- What is Blue Sky People?
Blue Sky People is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Blue Sky Rental Studios. We specialize in helping Bay Area clients and photographers find people like you for their photography projects. If you're interested in working as a model (or as a "real person" model), simply attend one of our open castings to have your photo taken. Any photographer or client doing work in the Bay Area can search through our ever growing database of people. If you have "the look" they desire, they simply request to work with you. Every job is handled directly by our staff so your personal information is never compromised. We think this is a revolutionary new way to connect people like you with photographers and clients. Because we are not an agency, you get to keep all proceeds from any work you get through us. Feel free to check out a list of clients and photographers who have done work at Blue Sky.
- What's this I hear about a super snazzy web-application?
Yes, Blue Sky People incorporates state of the art technology in its leading edge web application, but it's more than super snazzy, it's super useful! The original idea behind Blue Sky People was to allow photographers and clients to find people quickly and easily. So in the next few months you'll be seeing some big changes to our website. Soon you'll be able to see the pictures you've taken at our castings, upload more of your own, and manage your contact info (among many other things). You'll also be able to see the amazing search technology clients and photographers are using right now behind the scenes to find people like you.
- How do I get involved with Blue Sky People?
Simply attend one of our open castings. We'll take your photo and enter it into our searchable database so photographers and clients can find you quickly and easily.
- What kind of people are you looking for?
We want all types of people. The world of photography is more and more turning to real people and we want to represent that world. If you're real and authentic, then we want you.
- So how do I get hired by photographers and their clients?
This is what's so great about Blue Sky People! Once you've attended one of our open castings, you're photos will immediately become available to the photographers and clients doing work in the Bay Area. When a photographer or client wants to hire you they simply contact us and we in turn contact you with all the details of the job or casting. Of course your personal information is never seen by anyone but our staff (see question 10 for more details about privacy).
- Is there anything special about your castings?
When you come to one of Blue Sky People's castings you're being introduced to the Bay Area photography community, not just to one job. All the clients and photographers in the Bay Area, those working at Blue Sky Rental Studios and elsewhere, will be able to see everyone that comes to our castings and thus find people like you quickly and easily. Because we work with all the major clients and photographers, your chances of being seen are better than ever.
- How much does it cost?
We're committed to making it easy to join Blue Sky People so you can have a chance to be seen by the people who hire. We will be offering a wide range of package options, and if you're interested in other photo related services (if you want a portfolio, a portrait, or anything else) we can point you in the right direction or provide some of those services.
- What kind of information do I have to give to Blue Sky People?
In additions to your photo(s), two pieces of information are required: Contact information and information describing your unique attributes. Your personal information (your telephone numbers, email, and name) will never be seen by anyone but our Blue Sky database manager. The information you use to describe yourself (short, blond, athletic?) is used in our search technology to allow photographers and clients to find you fast and easily.
- Who will see the information I give to Blue Sky?
Only the Blue Sky People database manager will have access to your personal information (phone numbers, email, your name, etc.) and you'll never be directly contacted by anyone outside of Blue Sky. The information you use to describe yourself and your photos will be seen by photographers and clients using our database to find people for their work. This makes it easy for photographers and clients to find you, but keeps your information safe. Clients interested in hiring you will contact us, describe their job in detail, and then we will contact you. Our number one priority is making it a safe and fun experience for Blue Sky People like yourself.
- I'm a parent, tell me more about Blue Sky People.
Both Blue Sky People and Blue Sky Rental Studios are family owned businesses. We've had hundreds of castings at Blue Sky involving toddlers, children, teens and adults. Blue Sky has worked with all the major local companies doing work with people like you. Blue Sky People hopes to make it easier for everyone, especially parents with children, to be part of the photography world. We're making our open castings flexible and fun, and because your child is seen by many photographers and clients through our database you'll only have to go to castings where you will have a good chance of getting the job. We also reserve the the half-hour before our regularly scheduled castings for parents with children four and under so you don't have to wait around (please email us if you'd like to take advantage of this time at contact@blueskypeople.com).
- What clients have you worked with?
Blue Sky Rental Studios, our parent company, has worked with the world's leading photographers and clients, from Richard Avedon and Bruce Webber to Gap, Pottery Barn and Macy's. - Do I need a make-over for the casting?
No! We want you fresh and real so our clients have a really good idea of what you look like. Just come as you are.
